Jennifer Garner, born April 17, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was born in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He worked as chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local university. Desiring to follow in her father's footsteps her graduation was a degree in chemical engineering. Her move to New York in order to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. She worked at a restaurant while appearing in Broadway productions. She was in a minor part on "Felicity" (where she first met Scott Foley). Garner received her first break in the action thriller "Alias." She had her first leading role came in the critically acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going 30." Garner played a teenage girl trapped in a 30 year old body. Garner picked Gary Winick (director) to create the film. The two looked for projects that could be made until Winick passed away in the year 2011. Garner began his role as an ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. The program focuses on the importance of nutrition, literacy and early education. In 2014, Garner has been a participant on the board of trustees of this organization, pushing for early childhood education. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) Ambassador team for the EASS program Garner regularly visits families to guide them in ways to inspire their kids to succeed.
